Mary Byrd

Burlington, VT- Mary T. Byrd passed away peacefully on the day of love, February 14,2023 at her home. Mary was born in Burlington Vt, on July 9, 1939, a daughter to the late Arthur Mercier and Hazel Fitzgerald.

Mary was a pillar of the community and worked for the State Health Department for over 40 years.

Her loves in life were her family and bowling. Mary’s love for bowling brought her all over the country to compete in tournaments. Mary was a kind, loving, and generous woman who was always willing to help anyone in need and she will surely be missed.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Donna L. Quintin (James and his son Henry); her grandchildren, Jeremy Byrd (Beth Ann), Ethan Byrd, David Lester, Rob Lester (Amy), Jordan Valyou (Hannah and her son Dawson), and Lucas Valyou (Meghan); great-grandchildren, Eli Byrd, Ruby Byrd, Brandon Lester, Angel Lester, April Lester,  Alexa Valyou, and Weston Valyou; siblings, John Mercier (Nancy), Carol Cota, and Susan Gilbert (Dennis); and her best friend Jon Opra.

She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Hazel (Fitzgerald) Mercier; son George F. Byrd; daughter Lynn Byrd-Quintin, daughter Lisa J Valyou and husband Jon; son in law Butch Quintin;

A celebration of life will be held later in the spring.
