Steven James Rickter, a kind and loving individual who dedicated his life to serving his country, has passed away at the age of 39. Born on February 9, 1984, in Boston, Massachusetts, Steven was a remarkable individual who made a lasting impact on the lives of those around him.

Throughout his life, Steven exemplified qualities of compassion and selflessness. Known for his unwavering kindness, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. These traits were especially evident during his time in the United States Army, where he served tirelessly for many years. Steven's military service took him to both Iraq and Afghanistan, where he fearlessly stood for his country's values and protected those in need. He was an exceptional leader who cared deeply for those under his command.

Steven's dedication to serving others extended beyond the military. He had a passion for playing guitar and chess, finding solace and joy in these hobbies. They allowed him to express himself creatively and engage in strategic thinking.

Tragically, after battling the emotional toll of his life of service in the Army, Steven succumbed to his demons and passed away on September 6, 2023. It is essential to remember that Steven's sacrifice should be honored and celebrated. He faced unimaginable challenges throughout his life but never wavered in his commitment to protecting others.

Among Steven's proudest accomplishments was coming home with all of his men from each deployment he embarked upon. His unwavering loyalty and leadership ensured their safety during dangerous missions abroad. His bravery earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.

Steven will be deeply missed by those who knew him best. He is survived by his parents, Harvey and Mary Rickter, who instilled in him the values that made him the extraordinary person he became.

In addition to his devoted parents mourning their loss, Steven leaves behind Ronald Simmons, his loving husband. Their partnership was a testament to the power of love and support, as Ronald stood by Steven's side throughout their lives together.

The family would like to thank each every person who has inspired Steven to be the man he was.  Please consider a donation in his honor to help veterans struggling, especially those with mental health due to their service to our country.
